Youth Choir Saturday Devotion: “Mighty to Save”
Everyone needs compassion Love that’s never failing
Let mercy fall on me Everyone needs forgiveness
The kindness of a Saviour The hope of nations
Saviour He can move the mountains
My God is mighty to save He is mighty to save
Forever Author of salvation
He rose and conquered the grave Jesus conquered the grave
So take me as You find me All my fears and failures
Fill my life again I give my life to follow
Everything I believe in Now I surrender
Shine Your light and let the whole world see
We’re singing For the glory of the risen King
When looking at the lyrics in this song and taking them to heart, it is hard for all of the words to come to mind. The song has reminders of everything in it: it tells us about Jesus, about why we need him, about who he is, and what he did. There is one very important part in there though. Look at the last line of the second stanza. It says “He rose and conquered the grave. Jesus conquered the grave.” What a powerful thought that is! Jesus conquered the grave. In other words death could not even hold him back. That is how big our God is!
As we are traveling back home today on this long bus ride, take some time to think over the trip and all that happened. But also take some time to remember Christ and how he beat the grave and gave us a new life, a life that allows us to have fun on a choir tour with friends and a life that is full and fulfilling, a life without death. Check out what Paul says to the Romans:
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering And so he condemned sin in sinful man” Romans 8:1-3
We are set free from sin and death through Jesus. What more could we ask for? So looking back this week we have had a lot of fun. We rode roller coasters, long bus rides, Navy Pier, hall of fames, and made a ton of memories, life is feeling pretty good right now. All of this is even sweeter knowing that the reason why we did it was because of Jesus’ love for us and we wanted people to know that he is “Mighty to Save”.
